Cliffs of Moher (and more!)

Image
I apologize for not posting sooner. After I got back home late last night, did my homework, showered, and ate dinner, I was pretty tired and didn't quite feel up to writing a blog post. This week has been pretty crazy and pretty busy, but it's also been very exciting and fun! As I mentioned, I was able to sign up for clubs and societies this week, so I joined the Food Society, the French Society, and the Trampoline Club. Trampoline Club welcomes complete beginners and I have a few friends doing it, so I'm actually pretty excited about doing that. I am potentially going to join the Netball Club as well, which is a fun sport that I played a bit when I was in New Zealand. Practice/events start for those this upcoming week, and I can't wait to meet some more people and make some new friends through those! The school week was otherwise fairly normal, and I definitely like that we are getting into the real material in most of my classes. I like my Irish language class in ...

Deutschland

Well it has been quite the week! This week was my first week of classes and it was nice to finally get started!! I'm taking only four classes- an Irish language class, a class about Irish history and culture, a linguistics class, and a Criminology class. So far, they all seem like they'll be pretty interesting and not too difficult! This coming week is what they call Freshers Week, where it's possible to join clubs and societies. I'm very excited to join one and meet some more people! Besides classes, finding my buildings, and figuring out how UCD works, nothing too exciting happened during the school week. It was after classes when the fun really started! I mentioned that I was going to Germany this weekend for Oktoberfest, and here I am in the Berlin airport writing this blog post (pictures were uploaded in Dublin, though). I left on Thursday night for Frankfurt, but my flight was delayed for a while. This made travel very difficult as I missed the two buses I h...

Céad Míle Fáilte Romhat

The Irish phrase in the title, Céad Míle Fáilte Romhat, means A Hundred Thousand Welcomes to You, and I've heard it a few times in the past week! Here's a picture of me and my friends Abbey and Makenna getting a warm Irish welcome to UCD! Well, I decided I would try to post a blog once a week, usually on Saturday or Sunday. That way I can make a routine out of it and hopefully not forget to do it! This past week has been a lot of fun! I've been able to meet a lot of people from many different places through various events and sometimes, chance. For example, on a campus tour that I went on, I met the one other person from the University of Maryland who is also studying at UCD! We bumped into each other and were surprised to find each other so coincidentally! On Monday, the rest of my flatmates finally moved in. Five of us are single-semester study abroad students from the United States, but our sixth roommate is actually a freshman here a...
